How to swap LUNC on Terra Classic DEXes

The chain’s own market swap has been off since 2022, so LUNC swaps run through community DEXes such as Terraswap Classic, WESO and Garuda, or through Osmosis. Here is how to swap safely, what slippage and the burn tax cost, and which swaps are simply impossible.

The short answer

To swap LUNC, connect a native Terra Classic wallet such as Galaxy Station to a decentralised exchange on the chain, choose your pair, set a slippage limit and sign. Terraswap Classic is the original option. WESO, CL8Y DEX, Garuda DeFi and Terraport are the other live DEXes. You can also move LUNC to Osmosis over IBC and swap there, or skip DeFi entirely and trade on a centralised exchange.

Three things make LUNC swaps different from swaps on bigger chains. The built-in LUNC↔USTC market swap is effectively disabled. DeFi liquidity on Terra Classic is shallow, so price impact matters even on modest trades. And the chain’s 1.5% burn tax is taken from what a DEX pays out to you. Some popular searches also ask for swaps that don’t exist, like LUNC to LUNA. We cover each of these below.

Why the native swap is off

Before May 2022, Terra’s market module let anyone swap LUNA for UST and back at the oracle price. That mint-and-burn loop is what kept UST near a dollar, and it is also what sent LUNA supply into the trillions during the collapse. After the crash, the old chain turned the mechanism off by setting the market module’s minimum stability spread to 1.0, which is a 100% spread. A swap through the module would cost the entire amount, so in practice nobody can use it.

Governance closed the other door in November 2023. Proposal 11868 raised the Tobin tax on all oracle currencies to 100%, which disabled USTC minting. Several later proposals talked about bringing back a market module or a repeg, including 11487, 12188, 12209 and 12219, but all of them were signal votes without code. None has re-enabled the swap. That is why “swap LUNC to USTC” today means a DEX or an exchange, not the protocol itself. Our USTC guide covers the repeg debate in detail.

DEX routes that work

Terra Classic’s DeFi scene is small. DefiLlama puts the whole chain’s total value locked at under a million dollars, spread across a handful of DEXes. That is a tiny fraction of what a single large pool holds on other chains, so expect wide price moves on bigger swaps. The table lists the venues we found live, plus the famous names that no longer work. The community directory at terra-classic.io and our dApps guide track the wider ecosystem.

Which one should you use? For a plain LUNC↔USTC swap, we would start with Terraswap Classic, because it is the original deployment and its interface is familiar to anyone who used Terra before 2022. If a pool there is thin for your pair, compare the quote on WESO or Terraport before you sign. A newer project, LuncSwap.fun, also describes itself as a Terra Classic market. Since governance proposal 12234 passed on 26 October 2026, only governance can approve new contract code uploads, so new DEX contracts now need an on-chain vote first.

Swap in Galaxy Station, step by step

Galaxy Station, built by Hexxagon, is the community successor to Terra Station, whose Classic mode now points at a dead server. It runs as a Chrome or Brave extension (not Firefox) and pairs with a mobile app over WalletConnect. Keplr also supports Terra Classic and connects to the same DEXes. Our wallets guide covers setup and seed-phrase safety.

  1. Fund your wallet

Withdraw LUNC from an exchange to your Galaxy Station address (it starts with terra1). Keep a small LUNC balance aside for gas, which is paid in uluna.

  2. Open the DEX yourself

Type the DEX address or use a bookmark, for example app-classic.terraswap.io. Do not follow swap links from chats, ads or direct messages.

  3. Connect and check the network

Connect Galaxy Station and confirm the DEX shows Terra Classic, chain ID columbus-5, not Terra 2.0.

  4. Choose the pair and amount

Select LUNC as the input and your target token, such as USTC. Check the quoted output, the price impact and the minimum you will receive.

  5. Set slippage and review fees

Keep slippage low on small trades. Read the fee breakdown in the wallet pop-up before you sign, and remember that the burn tax comes off the coins the pool sends back.

  6. Sign and verify

Approve the transaction in Galaxy Station, then look up the hash on a Terra Classic explorer to confirm the swap and the amounts.

If the transaction fails, the usual causes are too little LUNC left for gas, a slippage limit that the price moved past, or a pool that is too thin for the amount. Lower the amount, refresh the quote and try again. You can track any swap with our LUNC explorer guide or directly on Galaxy Finder.

Slippage and the burn tax

On an automated market maker, the price you get depends on the size of your trade relative to the pool. A labelled example makes it clear. If you sell an amount of LUNC equal to 10% of the LUNC side of a pool, the constant-product formula gives you roughly 9% less than the starting price suggests, before the pool’s own fee. Sell 1% of the pool and the impact drops to about 1%. With chain-wide liquidity under a million dollars, a swap worth a few thousand dollars can easily be a meaningful share of a pool. Split large swaps or use a centralised exchange for them.

Slippage tolerance is your safety rail. It sets the worst price you will accept between the moment you sign and the moment the transaction lands in a block. A tight setting may make the swap fail if the market moves, which costs a little gas but protects you from a bad fill. A loose setting lets the swap through at a worse price, and on thin pools that can be expensive.

Read the fee line

Gas, the pool fee, price impact and the 1.5% burn tax can all show up in one swap. The tax comes off the payout, not the coins you send in.

Then there is the on-chain burn tax. Since proposal 12223 passed on 2 August 2026, the rate is 1.5%, of which 1.2% is burned and 0.15% each goes to the community pool and the oracle pool. How it hits a swap is less obvious than it sounds. In the current tax code, the coins you send into a DEX contract are treated as non-taxable, to avoid charging the same trade twice. The tax is applied when the contract sends coins out to your wallet, and it is deducted from that payout. So on a LUNC to USTC swap, the USTC that lands in your wallet is about 1.5% lower than the pool’s raw output.

A labelled example: if a pool would pay out 1,000 USTC for your LUNC, roughly 985 USTC arrives and about 15 USTC goes to the tax split. Some things are not taxed at all. IBC denoms and IBC transfers are skipped, staking actions are free of the tax, and trades on centralised exchanges happen off-chain. A governance exemption list covers only transfers between Binance’s own wallets. Governance can change the rate by vote, and our burn tracker shows what these fees add up to.

Swap LUNC to USTC

LUNC to USTC is the most common on-chain swap, and it works in three ways. The first is a Terra Classic DEX, following the steps above. The second is an Osmosis pool after an IBC transfer. The third is a centralised exchange that lists both coins. In our region, Binance TH and Tokocrypto list USTC against USDT, Binance TR has USTC/TRY and Bittime has USTC/IDR. OKX delisted USTC in September 2025 and Kraken dropped it in December 2025.

Be clear about what you are buying. USTC is the old UST after its collapse. It has had no working peg since May 2022, minting is disabled and it trades at a fraction of a cent on the dollar. Governance even asked a major data site in 2025 to remove its stablecoin tag. Swapping LUNC to USTC is a bet on a separate volatile asset, not a move into cash. The reverse search, swap USTC to LUNC, uses exactly the same routes.

Swap LUNC to LUNA?

This is impossible, and any site that offers it is a scam. Terra 2.0 started in May 2022 as a new chain with a fresh genesis. Its LUNA was airdropped once to holders of the old chain, based on snapshots at blocks 7,544,910 and 7,790,000. No swap, bridge or conversion links the two coins, and buying LUNC today gives you no LUNA entitlement. The only path is two separate trades on an exchange: sell LUNC for USDT, then buy LUNA with that USDT. Watch the tickers while you do it, since some exchanges still call Terra Classic “LUNA”. Our LUNC vs LUNA comparison lays out the differences.

Wrapped LUNC on PancakeSwap

Searches for “pancakeswap lunc” refer to a wrapped token, not native LUNC. The BNB Chain token that terra-classic.io links to PancakeSwap and MDEX was issued through the Wormhole token bridge. Its on-chain name and symbol are both LUNA, not LUNC, and it uses 6 decimals. It is not a “Binance-Peg” token; Binance itself only supports LUNC on the native Terra Classic network. On Ethereum, the matching Wormhole token is used on Uniswap.

Not recommended: Wormhole quiet since 14 Jul 2025, Shuttle closed 31 Jan 2023

Always paste the contract address into the swap interface rather than searching by name, because anyone can deploy a token called “LUNC” or “Terra Classic”. Then remember the limits. Wrapped tokens cannot be staked and earn nothing from the chain. Wormhole’s last message from Terra Classic was on 14 July 2025, and TFL’s old Shuttle bridge shut on 31 January 2023, so we do not tell readers they can bridge back. Governance took ownership of new Hyperlane bridge contracts linking LUNC to Ethereum, BNB Chain and Solana in October 2026. Treat that route as new and verify any Hyperlane token address from official Terra Classic sources before use. The full contract list, including Solana, is in our wrapped LUNC guide.

The Osmosis IBC route

Osmosis is the main Cosmos DEX that still connects to Terra Classic. The IBC channel between them (channel-1 on Terra Classic, channel-72 on Osmosis) was open when we checked, its light clients were updating, and governance funds relayers to keep it running. A few billion LUNC sit on Osmosis. On that chain, LUNC appears under the denom ibc/0EF15DF2F02480ADE0BB6E85D9EBB5DAEA2836D3860E9F97F9AADE4F57A31AA0, which traces back to transfer/channel-72/uluna.

To use it, send LUNC from a wallet that supports IBC transfers, such as Keplr, to your Osmosis address, then swap on Osmosis. IBC transfers of LUNC are not on the chain’s list of taxed messages, so the move itself avoids the burn tax; you still pay gas. Check the denom of the asset you receive, because look-alike tokens exist on every DEX. Osmosis LUNC volume is small, so the same price-impact rules apply. Coming back works in reverse over the same channel; send a small test first, as relayer hiccups can delay transfers.

FAQ

Where can I swap LUNC?

On Terra Classic DEXes such as Terraswap Classic, WESO, CL8Y DEX, Garuda DeFi and Terraport, on Osmosis through IBC, or on any centralised exchange that lists LUNC. The chain’s built-in market swap is effectively switched off.

Can I swap LUNC to LUNA?

No. Terra Classic and Terra 2.0 are separate chains with no swap or bridge between them. LUNA 2.0 was airdropped once in 2022 from snapshots of the old chain. You can only sell LUNC for USDT on an exchange and buy LUNA there as a second, separate trade.

How do I swap LUNC to USTC?

Connect a Terra Classic wallet such as Galaxy Station to a DEX like Terraswap Classic, choose LUNC to USTC, set your slippage and confirm. You can also use Osmosis pools or an exchange that lists both coins. USTC is not a working stablecoin, so treat it as a separate volatile asset.

Is there a burn tax when I swap LUNC?

Usually yes, but not on the coins you send in. Under the current tax code, funds you send into a DEX contract are treated as non-taxable, and the 1.5% tax is taken when the contract pays coins out to your wallet, so you receive about 1.5% less. IBC transfers, staking and trades on centralised exchanges are not taxed on-chain.

Can I swap LUNC on PancakeSwap?

Only the wrapped BEP-20 token, not native LUNC. The genuine Wormhole-wrapped token on BNB Chain is 0x156ab3346823B651294766e23e6Cf87254d68962 and its on-chain symbol is LUNA. Bridging it back to native LUNC through Wormhole is no longer something we can recommend.

How do I swap LUNC on Trust Wallet?

We have not verified a built-in swap for native Terra Classic in Trust Wallet. If a swap screen offers LUNC, check whether it is native LUNC or a wrapped BEP-20 token before you confirm. The dependable route is a Terra Classic DEX with Galaxy Station or Keplr, or a centralised exchange.
