Terra Classic news moves through three channels: on-chain governance votes, core software releases and exchange decisions. The network pulse at the top of this page shows the live block height, supply, burn tax and staked share, so you can see the chain’s state while you read. Below is a roundup of the developments that changed how LUNC works, each with its date and a primary source.

We skip rumors, price targets and influencer threads. If a headline did not change a parameter, a piece of code or an exchange listing, it is not here. For the history before 2026, start with our Terra Luna crash page and the network upgrades guide.

The short version

Five things define the recent story. The burn tax tripled from 0.5% to 1.5% in August 2026. The chain jumped to Cosmos SDK 0.53 in April 2026 and ran several security and stability releases after that. Since 26 October 2026, only governance can approve new smart-contract code. Hyperlane bridges now link LUNC and USTC to Ethereum, BNB Chain and Solana under governance ownership. And on the exchange side, OKX left in 2025 while Binance kept burning a share of its LUNC trading fees in monthly batches.

None of this changed the basic picture. LUNC still has trillions of coins, thin liquidity and no company behind it. But the chain is maintained, upgraded and governed in the open, and every change below can be checked on chain.

Dates are UTC and come from on-chain records, GitHub releases or exchange notices. Proposal numbers are global on Terra Classic, so gaps between numbers are normal: spam and failed-deposit proposals take IDs too.

The 1.5% burn tax vote

Proposal 12223 ended on 2 August 2026 and raised the on-chain tax from 0.5% to 1.5%. The split is 80/10/10: 1.2 points are burned, 0.15 points go to the community pool and 0.15 points go to the oracle pool that pays staking rewards. The live parameters on chain match the proposal. Like every governance setting, the rate can change again by vote.

The vote was close. On chain, about 52.6% of non-abstain votes were Yes, 38.4% of voters abstained, and roughly one vote in six was NoWithVeto. Some outlets reported a 96% approval, which is wrong. The higher tax was the third try. Proposal 11933 asked for 1.5% in December 2023 and proposal 12149 tried again in December 2024. Both were rejected. The 1.2% tax of September 2022 went live through parameter proposal 4661, after the earlier signal votes. For the full history from 1.2% to 0.2%, 0.5% and 1.5%, read our burn tax guide, and watch the effect on supply with the burn tracker.

Core upgrades and security fixes

Core v4.0.0 went live on 17 April 2026 at block 28,214,400, approved by proposal 12218. It moved Terra Classic to Cosmos SDK 0.53, wasmd 0.61 and ibc-go v10, which brings IBC v2. This was the largest technical jump since the 2024 “parity” upgrade. The work was funded from the community pool in two phases, and v4.0.1 followed on 6 May 2026.

On 24 September 2026, validators ran an emergency patch, v4.0.1-patch.3, to fix a critical wasmd/wasmvm vulnerability ahead of a public disclosure on 28 September. A non-consensus release, v4.0.2, followed with another security fix. Then core v4.1.1 activated on 26 October 2026 at block 31,010,600. It fixes “ghost” transactions stuck in the mempool, two tax-module panics and an issue with vesting accounts, with no parameter changes. All releases are listed on the classic-terra GitHub.

Upgrades happen by vote

Every Terra Classic core upgrade is approved on chain with an exact block height. Validators then switch to the new software at that block.

Contract uploads and other governance votes

Proposal 12234 passed on 26 October 2026 with about 92.6% support. It changed the CosmWasm setting for code uploads from “Everybody” to “Nobody”. In practice, new smart-contract code now needs governance approval or an allow-list entry. It came a month after the emergency contract-engine patch and means every new contract gets a public review first. It also adds a step for builders. A follow-up, proposal 12236, asks to let the Juris Protocol and LuncSwap.fun deployer upload code, the first test of the new rule.

Other votes shaped the agenda too. Proposal 12224, which would have capped community-pool reserves, was rejected on 21 August 2026. Proposal 12225 funded IBC relaying for the second half of 2026. Proposal 12228, a security audit with follow-up fixes, was rejected on 1 October 2026 with a 42.3% veto. USTC ideas such as staking (12219) remain signal votes with no code. The live feed below shows what is open right now. Our governance guide explains how to vote.

Hyperlane bridges to Ethereum, BNB Chain and Solana

Proposal 12200 approved a Hyperlane integration in November 2025, with a $12,000 budget paid only after delivery. Proposal 12222 funded Solana warp routes on 1 July 2026. Between 6 and 15 October 2026, proposals 12229, 12230 and 12232 handed contract ownership to governance, migrated the contracts to fix a multisig signature bug and approved a delivery payment of 253,074,165 LUNC. The bridge connects LUNC and USTC to Ethereum, BNB Chain and Solana.

Treat it as new infrastructure. The community docs site still marks the bridge front end as work in progress. The older Wormhole route is effectively dormant: its last message from Terra Classic was sent on 14 July 2025. Do not assume you can bridge old wrapped tokens back. Our wrapped LUNC page lists the genuine contract addresses.

Binance burns, exchange moves and wallets

Binance burns LUNC from its trading fees in monthly batches, converting half of its LUNC spot and margin fees. Binance last published a cumulative figure of about 82 billion LUNC for fees through January 2026. Adding the batches visible on chain since then gives roughly 87.6 billion. The largest 2026 batch, about 2.19 billion LUNC, went out on 1 June, and the 1 May batch was about 923 million. The 1 October batch of 334.88 million matched the 1 September amount to the last decimal, an anomaly Binance has not explained, so we report the amounts and nothing more. The press also reported a major Binance hot-wallet security incident on 29–30 October 2026, with withdrawals paused; we only note it and don’t connect it to burn timing. Our Binance burn page logs each batch.

Other exchange news matters more than it looks. OKX delisted LUNC spot pairs with trading ending on 29 September 2025, after removing the perpetual on 18 September, and suspended withdrawals from 22 December 2025. Kraken did not delist LUNC: its December 2025 notice removed USTC and Terra 2.0, while Terra Classic still trades there under the ticker LUNA. Binance’s public tag data did not show a Monitoring tag on LUNC when checked. The LUNC exchanges page tracks every listing and delisting.

On the wallet side, Leap shut down on 28 May 2026, and Terra Station’s Classic backend no longer responds. Galaxy Station, built by Hexxagon, is the de facto replacement, with Keplr as the main alternative. See the wallet guide before you move coins.

Why is LUNC pumping, or going down?

Most big LUNC moves follow the same pattern: a headline, a volume spike, then a slow fade. LUNC rose from about $0.0000412 on 20 April 2026 to a close of $0.0001153 on 6 May, a gain of about 180%. Daily volume peaked near $250 million. The press linked the rally to the 923 million LUNC Binance burn, a chart breakout and excitement about the upgrade vote. In December 2025, LUNC spiked on more than $300 million of daily volume around Do Kwon’s sentencing, then dropped back within weeks.

Falls follow the reverse logic: no fresh catalyst, a weak crypto market and thin order books. After the May 2026 rally, for example, LUNC gave back most of its gains over the following months. If you see “LUNC pumping today”, check three things: is there an on-chain event, is volume far above normal, and is Bitcoin moving the whole market? If none applies, the move is likely noise. The live LUNC price chart shows volume and history, and our recovery analysis covers the longer view.

How to follow LUNC news from primary sources

No company or foundation speaks for Terra Classic. Community sites such as terra-classic.money say so plainly. So skip the “official” social accounts and go to the records. Governance proposals are on chain and readable in Galaxy Finder or the live feed above. Core releases are tagged on GitHub with release notes. Proposal discussions happen on the LuncGoblins Discourse forum, which most recent proposals link to.

For listings, read the exchange’s own announcement page, not a headline about it. For burns, compare the reported batch with the on-chain supply on our tracker. For court news about Terraform Labs and Do Kwon, the US Attorney’s case page is the source. One trap: the X account CoinGecko lists for LUNC, @terra_money, belongs to Terraform Labs, which is winding down and runs Terra 2.0, not Terra Classic. Our community page lists the main forums and channels.

How to spot fake LUNC news

LUNC attracts more recycled rumors than most coins, because the community is large and the story is dramatic. These checks catch most of them.

Before you believe a LUNC headline

  • Does it cite a proposal number? Look it up on chain and read the tally yourself.
  • Does it claim a listing or delisting? Find the notice on the exchange’s own site.
  • Does it mention a LUNC-to-LUNA swap or a new airdrop? Neither exists.
  • Does it say “Binance-Peg LUNC”? The well-known BNB Chain token is Wormhole-wrapped, not Binance-issued.
  • Does it ask you to connect a wallet or enter a seed phrase? Close the page.
  • Does it promise a price target or date? That is opinion, not news.

A few false stories keep coming back. “Kraken delisted LUNC” confused USTC and Terra 2.0 with Terra Classic. “Proposal 12223 passed with 96%” ignores the on-chain tally. “Binance put LUNC on Monitoring” was not backed by Binance’s tag data when checked. “Anyone can deploy contracts on LUNC” has been false since proposal 12234. And old articles from before 2022 say LUNA when they mean today’s LUNC.

FAQ

What is the latest news on LUNC?

The biggest recent changes were the burn tax rising from 0.5% to 1.5% through proposal 12223 on 2 August 2026, the move to Cosmos SDK 0.53 with core v4.0.0 in April 2026, and core v4.1.1 on 26 October 2026. On the same day, proposal 12234 made contract code uploads governance-only. Hyperlane bridges to Ethereum, BNB Chain and Solana were handed to governance in October 2026.

Why is LUNC pumping?

LUNC pumps have usually followed a headline plus a surge in volume, such as a large Binance burn batch, a network upgrade vote or court news about Do Kwon. The April to May 2026 rally of about 180% came with a 923 million LUNC Binance burn on 1 May and upgrade hype. Past pumps have faded within weeks once the headline aged.

Why is LUNC going down?

Common reasons are a weak overall crypto market, thin liquidity after a rally, exchange delistings and missing catalysts. Delays or gaps in Binance’s monthly burn batches also tend to weigh on sentiment. When no source explains a move, treat any claimed reason with caution.

Did Kraken delist LUNC?

No. Kraken’s December 2025 delisting notice covered UST, which is USTC, and LUNA2, which is Terra 2.0. Kraken still lists Terra Classic under the old ticker LUNA. Some outlets wrongly reported a LUNC delisting.

Is there a LUNC to LUNA swap or airdrop?

No. There is no swap or bridge between LUNC and Terra 2.0 LUNA. LUNA was airdropped once in 2022 from snapshots taken in May 2022, and buying LUNC today gives no LUNA entitlement. Any site offering a swap or airdrop that asks for your seed phrase is a scam.

Where can I read official Terra Classic news?

There is no official company or foundation behind Terra Classic. The primary sources are on-chain proposals in an explorer such as Galaxy Finder, release notes on the classic-terra GitHub, the LuncGoblins Discourse forum where proposals are discussed, and exchange announcement pages for listing news.
