Native LUNC vs wrapped LUNC
Real LUNC exists only on Terra Classic, a Cosmos SDK blockchain with the chain ID columbus-5. Its addresses start with terra1, its coins can be staked with validators, and every taxable transfer pays the chain’s burn tax. Wrapped LUNC is something else: a token on another blockchain, minted by a bridge that once locked native coins on Terra and issued a stand-in on the other side. You find it on BNB Chain, Ethereum and Solana, and it is what people mean by “LUNC BEP-20” or “LUNC ERC-20”.
The short version for anyone searching for a contract address: the main BNB Chain token is 0x156ab3346823B651294766e23e6Cf87254d68962, a Wormhole token whose on-chain symbol is LUNA, not LUNC. Wrapped tokens cannot be staked, carry no governance vote and, with the old bridges dormant, should not be treated as redeemable for native LUNC. If you want to hold LUNC long term, a native wallet from our LUNC wallets guide is the better home.
Verified wrapped LUNC contract addresses
We read each address below directly from its blockchain, calling the token’s name, symbol, decimals and owner functions. Copy them from here or from the community docs at terra-classic.io, never from a token search box, a Telegram post or an airdropped token in your wallet.

Sizes differ a lot. Roughly 58 billion units of the Wormhole token sit on BNB Chain and about 18 billion on Ethereum. The legacy Shuttle token on Ethereum still has around 252 billion units outstanding, stranded since its bridge closed, and the Solana token is small, well under a billion. Wrapped units are counted on their own chains, not in the Terra Classic figures on our LUNC supply page, and with the original bridges dormant there is no dependable way to swap them back for the native coins they once represented.
Why the token says LUNA, and why it is not “Binance-Peg”
Before the collapse in May 2022, the coin we now call LUNC was simply LUNA. The bridges created their tokens back then, so the contracts still report LUNA as their symbol. When Terra 2.0 launched, the old chain became Terra Classic and its coin was renamed LUNC on most exchanges, but a smart contract’s symbol does not change itself. That is why a genuine wrapped token shows LUNA in MetaMask or on a block explorer, while many fake tokens proudly display “LUNC”.
You will also see the BNB Chain token described as “Binance-Peg LUNC”. That is wrong. The contract’s owner is the Wormhole token bridge, and Binance’s own network list shows LUNC only on the native Terra Classic network, with no BNB Chain option. So you cannot withdraw LUNC from Binance as a BEP-20 token, and you should never send the wrapped token to a Binance deposit address expecting it to arrive as LUNC. The ticker trap runs deeper on exchanges, too: Kraken and Bitkub use LUNA for Terra Classic, while Binance uses LUNA for Terra 2.0. Our LUNC vs LUNA guide untangles the names.
Shuttle, Wormhole and Hyperlane: which bridges still work
Wrapped tokens are promises. The bridge holds native coins on one chain and lets you redeem the wrapped version for them. When the bridge stops relaying messages, the promise has no one to honour it. That is what happened to both bridges that created most wrapped LUNC.
| Bridge | Chains | Status | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shuttle (Terraform Labs) | Ethereum, BNB Chain | Shut 31 Jan 2023 | Old Shuttle tokens cannot be redeemed |
| Wormhole (Portal) | BNB Chain, Ethereum, Solana | Dormant; last Terra Classic message 14 Jul 2025 | Do not plan on bridging back |
| Hyperlane warp routes | Ethereum, BNB Chain, Solana | New, governance-owned contracts | Separate tokens; treat as experimental |
| IBC to Osmosis | Osmosis | Channels open, relaying active | Native LUNC, can move both ways |
Terraform Labs announced the end of its Terra Classic Wormhole support for 30 May 2023. Wormhole’s own message log shows the last message emitted from Terra Classic on 14 July 2025, with nothing since. We therefore tell readers plainly: if you hold the Wormhole token, assume you can trade it on the chain where it lives, not that you can turn it back into native LUNC.
Hyperlane is the community’s newer answer. Governance proposal 12222, passed on 1 July 2026, funded Hyperlane warp routes, and in October 2026 proposals 12229, 12230 and 12232 handed ownership of the Hyperlane contracts to governance, migrated them to fix a duplicate-signature bug in the multisig security module and approved a delivery payment of 253,074,165 LUNC. The routes connect LUNC and USTC to Ethereum, BNB Chain and Solana. Two cautions apply. Hyperlane tokens are different contracts from the old Wormhole tokens, so one does not redeem the other, and the community wallet docs still mark the bridge front end as work in progress. We have not verified the Hyperlane token addresses, so we do not list them here. Other bridge front ends listed in the ecosystem, from Terraport Bridge to Juris Bridge and Allbridge, are covered on our Terra Classic dApps page.
LUNC on Osmosis: the cross-chain route that still works
The one form of LUNC outside Terra Classic that still moves in both directions is LUNC on Osmosis. It travels over IBC, the Cosmos standard for chain-to-chain transfers: Terra Classic channel-1 connects to Osmosis channel-72, both channels are open, and their light clients are being updated, which means relayers are active. Governance funds that relaying, most recently with proposal 12225 for the second half of 2026.
On Osmosis the coin appears under the long IBC denom in the table above, with about 6 billion LUNC on that chain. You send it there from Keplr or Galaxy Station and back the same way. The coins are escrowed on Terra Classic while they are away, so this is closer to moving your own LUNC than to holding a third-party IOU. IBC transfers of LUNC are not subject to the burn tax, only the normal gas fee; our burn tax guide explains which transfers pay the 1.5% rate.
Want native LUNC instead of an old IOU?
Buy USDT by card, send it to an exchange that lists LUNC, buy there and withdraw to a terra1 wallet you control.
How to add wrapped LUNC to MetaMask safely
MetaMask cannot create a terra1 address, so it can never hold native LUNC, and no exchange will withdraw LUNC to a 0x address. What you can do is display a wrapped token you already own, for example one you received on BNB Chain years ago. The safe way is to import the contract manually.
Pick the right network
Switch MetaMask to BNB Smart Chain for the BEP-20 token or to Ethereum for the ERC-20 tokens. The address only works on its own chain.
Open import tokens
Choose the option to import a custom token rather than searching by name. Search results can surface look-alike tokens.
Paste the verified address
Copy it from the list on this page. Check the first six and last four characters after pasting.
Check symbol and decimals
The Wormhole tokens must show LUNA and 6 decimals; the old Shuttle token shows LUNA and 18 decimals. If you see LUNC, stop.
Leave unknown tokens alone
If a LUNC token appeared in your wallet without you buying it, do not trade or approve it. Hide it.
MetaMask shows the balance with its own price feed, which may be missing or wrong for an illiquid bridge token. Don’t read that number as the value of native LUNC; the live price is on our LUNC price page.
PancakeSwap and other DEX trading
The community docs at terra-classic.io link PancakeSwap and MDEX to the BNB Chain token, Uniswap to the Ethereum Wormhole token and Raydium to the Solana token. Those links are the right starting point if you need to trade the wrapped version, but we have no verified liquidity figures for those pools. Check pool depth and the price impact before you confirm, and set slippage tightly, because a thin pool can give you a price far from the native market.
For most people, swapping wrapped tokens is the wrong tool. Native LUNC trades with much deeper books on centralised exchanges and on Terra Classic DEXes such as Terraswap Classic, Garuda and Terraport. If your goal is simply to own LUNC, buy the native coin; our how to swap LUNC guide covers the on-chain routes and the LUNC exchanges list shows where the order books are.
Fake-token warning signs
Anyone can deploy a BEP-20 or ERC-20 token called “LUNC” or “Terra Classic” in a few minutes, and many people have. Fake tokens usually show the symbol LUNC, appear in wallets as unsolicited airdrops or come with a link to a “claim” site that asks you to approve spending. Approving such a contract can let it drain other tokens from your wallet.
Our rules are short. Verify the address, never the name or logo. Expect LUNA as the symbol and 6 decimals on the Wormhole tokens. Remember that native LUNC addresses always begin with terra1, and that no real wallet or bridge ever asks for your seed phrase on a web page. Wrapped tokens earn nothing, so any site promising staking rewards or a “burn bonus” for wrapped LUNC is a scam by definition.
FAQ
What is the LUNC contract address on BNB Chain?
The well-known BEP-20 token is 0x156ab3346823B651294766e23e6Cf87254d68962. It was created by the Wormhole bridge, shows the symbol LUNA on-chain and uses 6 decimals. It is not a Binance-Peg token, and Binance does not accept LUNC deposits on BNB Chain.
Is LUNC an ERC-20 token?
No. Native LUNC lives on its own blockchain, Terra Classic, with addresses that start with terra1. On Ethereum there are only wrapped versions, the Wormhole token 0xbd31EA8212119f94A611FA969881CBa3EA06Fa3d and the old Shuttle token 0xd2877702675e6cEb975b4A1dFf9fb7BAF4C91ea9, both shown as LUNA.
How do I add LUNC to MetaMask?
You can only add a wrapped token, not native LUNC. Switch MetaMask to BNB Smart Chain or Ethereum, choose import tokens, paste the verified contract address and check that the symbol reads LUNA with 6 decimals for the Wormhole tokens. Never import a token from a search result or an airdrop.
Can I bridge wrapped LUNC back to Terra Classic?
Do not count on it. The Shuttle bridge shut on 31 January 2023, and the last Wormhole message from Terra Classic was recorded on 14 July 2025. Newer Hyperlane routes create their own tokens, so they do not redeem the old Wormhole or Shuttle tokens.
Can I stake wrapped LUNC?
No. Staking only works with native LUNC on Terra Classic, delegated to a validator from a wallet such as Galaxy Station or Keplr. Wrapped tokens on BNB Chain, Ethereum or Solana earn no staking rewards and carry no governance vote.
